When you stroll down the Neumarkt, which is one of the prettiest street in the Old Town, make sure
to stop by the CITY ARCHIVES on Neumarkt 4. Inside the remarkable Haus zum Rechberg you will find
a historical exhibition and a scale model of the historical city. As you will notice in 1800 Zurich was
surrounded by a town wall, part of the original wall can still be seen inside the excellent Restaurant
Kantorei just next door. The fountain in front of the Kantorei dates back to the 15th century and was
originally called Nike fountain. It was rebuilt in 1987 and today is called Jupiterbrunnen.
Opening hours (free entrance) of the archives: Monday through Friday 8.00am till 6.00pm and
Saturday 10am till 4.00pm
